  • 1、Toilet Flushing Safety Guide: After use, clumped cat litter can be directly flushed down the toilet. However, please note that the amount per flush should not exceed 50g (approximately 1-2 standard clumps) to prevent pipe blockage caused by excessive accumulation. Before flushing, it is recommended to break the clumps into small pieces and flush them slowly with a sufficient amount of water.

  • 2、Handling Tapioca Litter Caking at the Bottom: If the Tapioca litter is not cleaned in time for several days, resulting in hard caking at the bottom that is difficult to scoop up, do not use brute force to scrape or scoop. Instead, place the scooper close to the edge of the caked litter and use a "prying" motion. Meanwhile, it is advisable to clean the clumped litter in a timely manner every day. This not only prevents the recurring problem of caking at the bottom but also keeps the litter box dry, reduces odor buildup, and enhances the cat's willingness to use the litter box.

Litter Choose & Use

Complete Guide to Tofu & Tapioca Cat Litter Selection & Use

1. Are tofu cat litter and Tapioca cat litter safe for cats? Do they contain toxic ingredients?

Both are plant-based with no harmful additives like formaldehyde, synthetic fragrances or bentonite. Small accidental ingestion is harmless and can be naturally metabolized by cats, safe for both adult and kittens.

2. Which has better clumping performance, tofu cat litter or Tapioca cat litter?

Tofu cat litter clumps faster and tighter with less breakage; Tapioca cat litter clumps a bit slower but forms hard, durable clumps. Both meet daily cleaning needs.

3. How is the odor control ability of these two litters?

Both absorb odors via plant fibers. Tofu litter offers longer-lasting odor control, while cassava litter excels at absorbing ammonia. No chemical deodorants, only physical adsorption, no irritation.

4. Can tofu/Tapioca cat litter be flushed directly down the toilet? Will it clog pipes?

Both are flushable. Flush small amounts at a time (≤1 cup each) to avoid clogs. Not recommended for old pipes or septic systems (dispose of in trash for septic setups).

5. Is there a lot of dust from these litters? Are they friendly to cats' respiratory tracts?

Both are low-dust formulas, far less dusty than bentonite litter. Cassava litter has slightly less dust, making it better for cats with respiratory sensitivities or flat-faced breeds.

6. What are the core differences between Tapioca and tofu cat litter? Which one should I choose?

Raw materials: Tofu litter = soybean dregs + starch; Cassava litter = cassava starch + plant fibers. Features: Tofu litter clumps fast and dissolves easily; Cassava litter has lower dust and less sticking to the pan. Choose tofu for fast clumping, cassava for low dust.

7. Are these two litters suitable for multi-cat households?

Yes, both have sufficient clumping and odor control for multiple cats. Scoop clumps daily and replace the entire litter box weekly for best results.

8. Can kittens/senior cats use tofu or Tapioca cat litter?

Yes. The fine granules (1-2mm) have a soft texture, won’t hurt kittens’ paws or strain senior cats’ joints. No irritants, suitable for all life stages.

9. What should I do if my cat eats the litter? Will it affect their stomach?

Small ingestion needs no treatment—plant-based ingredients pass naturally. If large amounts are eaten and vomiting/constipation occurs, stop use, monitor your cat, and consult a vet if severe.

10. What’s the usage amount and replacement frequency for these litters?

Single cat: Fill 5-7cm deep, scoop clumps daily, replace entirely every 2-3 weeks. Multi-cat: Replace entirely weekly, top up with new litter as needed.

11. What are the advantages of plant-based litters over bentonite litter?

Low dust, flushable, biodegradable, no chemical residues. Softer texture is well-accepted by cats, easier to clean, and healthier for both pets and owners.

12. Are clumps easy to scoop? Will the litter stick to the bottom of the litter box?

Little to no sticking when filled to ≥5cm deep. Thin layers may cause slight sticking, but clumps are easy to scoop out—both are easier to clean than bentonite.

13. Do these litters have scents? Will the scent irritate cats?

Our products all feature natural, mild scents like milk or bean, with zero synthetic fragrances. The scents are gentle and non-irritating to cats' sense of smell, and are suitable for cats with sensitive constitutions as well, as they do not contain harsh chemical additives that trigger discomfort. If a small number of particularly sensitive cats show any discomfort after use, please stop using the product immediately and observe the cat's condition.

14. What should I note when storing tofu/Tapioca cat litter? Is it moisture-sensitive?

Store sealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Dampness causes clumping and mold; use within 1-2 months after opening.

15. Will cats reject tofu or Tapioca cat litter? Is acceptance high?

Acceptance is generally high, as the plant granules feel similar to natural sand. For first-time switching, mix with old litter 1:1 and complete the transition within 7 days.

16. Are these two litters biodegradable? How eco-friendly are they?

Both are made of biodegradable plant materials, decompose naturally after disposal without soil pollution. More eco-friendly than non-biodegradable bentonite litter.

17. How fast do these litters dissolve in water? Will there be residue during cleaning?

Dissolve quickly in water with no residue after flushing. Clumps break down gradually in water, and the litter box can be rinsed clean with no stubborn residue.

18. Do I need a litter mat with tofu/cassava cat litter?

Recommended. Both have lightweight granules that are easily tracked out by cats; a litter mat collects scattered particles and reduces floor cleaning.

19. Are these litters suitable for cats with allergies?

Yes. Low dust, no chemical additives, and no common cat allergens (mineral dust, synthetic fragrances) make them ideal for allergic cats.

20. What about the cost-performance ratio of tofu and Tapioca cat litter?

Unit price is slightly higher than bentonite, but less frequent full replacements and lower cleaning costs make the long-term cost-performance similar to bentonite, with better eco-friendly and health benefits.
